Message from the current Friends' President

March, 12, 2019

Dear Friends of the Huron Public Library,

I welcome the opportunity that comes of being the new President of the Friends of the Huron Public Library. While humbled, I am looking forward to this new challenge, and working with you for the strengthening of our Library.

I was born and raised in Huron, but moved south in 1970. I came back home in 2016 after a 33 year career with Florida Power and Light. Since then, I've immersed myself in the community that I love. I serve on the board of the Abbey Rose Foundation, the Huron Historical Society, the Huron Educational Foundation, the Huron High Alumni Association, and the Erie County Board of Health. I also am a member of the Finance Committee for Huron City Schools.

I'm very interested in how the Friends of the Library can work together to make the Huron Public Library the centerpiece of our city. Please contact me with comments, suggestions, or questions. I can be reached at Together, I'm sure that we can continue to grow our membership and be a key partner in maintaining the best facility in the area.

I also want to thank Barbara Wilson for her leadership the past year and also wish Anne Johnson a very speedy recovery. Best of luck and congratulations to Cindy Carruthers on her retirement this month. She will be hard to replace but look forward to seeing her often as she begins the next phase of her life.

Once again, I am flattered by the confidence placed in me, and I will strive to do the best I can to lead this wonderful, dedicated group for the next year.

Message from the former Friends' President

Dear Friends,

While experiencing bitter cold, I look forward to Spring, the season of new beginnings.

We will start off with our Annual Meeting on Thursday, March 7 at 7 pm to elect the Executive Board and present the budget for 2019. We welcome your comments and suggestions. Please plan to attend.

Our revised membership forms have been mailed, and they are also available at the Library. We are using the trifold form for individual and business sponsorships. Please remember to date your membership form. Individual memberships will expire 1 year from the month submitted. You will receive a reminder to renew one month before your membership expires. Business sponsorships will be acknowledged by your company being listed in the quarterly newsletter Between the Bookends as follows: $25 one issue; $50 two issues; $75 three issues; $100 four issues. Business sponsorships will also be listed on the Friends page of the Library website and on display in the Library. The Friends are a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation and your donations are tax exempt. Thank you for your continued support.

Please visit the Friends Book Nook located in the copy center of the Library.  This year-round book sale gives you the opportunity to purchase a variety of gently used books, CDs, and DVDs. Check out the basket items at 10¢ each! Take your bargains home in a Friends Book Bag available for a $2 donation.

See you on March 7!

Barbara Wilson
