Did you know there is an Ohio Navy? Created in 1896, the Ohio Naval Brigade was a branch of the Ohio National Guard, serving as an Auxiliary Reserve to the United States Navy. Later renamed the Ohio Naval Militia, and commonly known today as the Ohio Navy, they provide security around Camp Perry and support state and federal forces. Members receive a wide variety of training and participate in military appreciation and support events. Learn about the history of Ohio’s naval forces, the Ohio Navy’s current mission, and the unique opportunities available for Ohio residents to serve the community as members of the state’s naval defense force.
