The Memory Lab and Media Lab at Huron Public Library are available during operating hours by appointment only. To make an appointment, please call the Library at (419) 433-5009. Appointments for lab sessions are subject to availability and may be limited to 2 hours when there is high demand. Our Technology labs are made possible by the support of the Friends of Huron Public Library.

Media Lab Guidelines
The Media Lab of Huron Public Library may be used by anyone to create, edit, and view digital media using the technology provided. The Media Lab includes an Apple Mac Computer with Garage Band, Final Cut Pro, studio headphones, studio microphones, a green screen, lighting equipment, and more. For more details on the software/equipment available, please visit HuronLibrary.org. Media Lab availability is subject to change and only during regular Library operating hours on a first come, first served basis, and by appointment only.
Rules & Regulations
- Appointments must be made by a Library supervisor.
- The person booking the Memory Lab must be 18 years old or accompanied by a parent.
- Appointments can be made for one hour increments.
- For the first time using a piece of an equipment, a staff member must train a patron on how to use the equipment. For subsequent appointments, the user may use the equipment they’ve been trained on alone, but staff will always be available for assistance.
- When an appointment is made, the equipment being used must be specified and included in the appointment booking.
- The Memory Lab must be vacated before the Library’s regular closing time or at the arranged appointment time end.
- Media being converted cannot be copywrited material. The purpose of the Memory Lab is for preserving personal media such as home movies and photos.
- If cancelling an appointment, please notify the library as soon as possible.
Responsibilities of the Patron
- Patrons are responsible for paying for lost or damaged Library property.
- Patrons must leave the equipment as they found it.
- Please power off the equipment at end of use.
- Patrons must notify staff when they are finished using the equipment.
- No library equipment may leave the building.
- Patrons must bring their own devices for transferring any media created on Library equipment to their own flash drive, external hard drive, or log in to cloud services for upload.

The memory lab allows patrons to save old memories by converting them into digital files using the equipment provided in the lab at no cost.

Memory Lab Guidelines
The Memory Lab of Huron Public Library may be used by anyone to convert physical pieces of media to digital for preservation. The Memory Lab can convert photos, slides, film, 8mm, VHS, & DVD. Memory Lab availability is subject to change and only during regular Library operating hours on a first come, first served basis
