09d9c0042432455cc7710fb14ac82234.pngThe Friends of Huron Public Library, Inc., a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, is a group of dedicated volunteers who help raise thousands of dollars each year to support the Library. The Friends raise funds primarily through tax-exempt membership, sponsorships, income from our Book Nook book sale, and other events. 

Your membership dollars support:

  • Memory Lab (with grant funding from The Mylander Foundation)
  • Media Lab (with grant funding from the Wightman-Wieber Charitable Foundation)
  • Summer Learning Program for children, teens, and adults
  • Bookpage
  • Between the Bookends postage
  • Staff Appreciation
  • Book Bike
  • Funding requests for programs and materials

We welcome your support. If you are interested in joining the Friends of Huron Public Library, print off the form below and mail it to the Library with your membership donation. You can also find a membership form on the last page of each Between the Bookends newsletter or at the circulation desk of the Library.

Friends of Huron Public Library Board Meetings are held once a month and are on the Library's calendar of events.

Book Donations

The Library accepts book and other material donations year-round. Donated items are sorted by volunteers and then placed in the Library's ongoing Book Nook sale. If you need assistance unloading boxes at the Library, call ahead at (419) 433-5009 or stop by the Circulation Desk to ask for a cart.

We ask that patrons donate no more than two boxes per week.

The Library can accept donations of:

  • Gently used books
  • Fiction hardback & paperbacks 
  • Nonfiction 
  • Children's books
  • Textbook (college and high school)
  • AV materials (DVDs, CDs, and books on CD in working condition)

The Library can NOT accept donations of:

  • Magazines 
  • Reader's Digest Condensed Books 
  • VHS tapes and cassettes
  • Puzzles and games
  • Materials that are damaged, dirty, or have yellowing pages
  • Encyclopedias and reference materials
  • Materials that are not regularly circulated at the Library

Items may be checked upon receiving. We reserve the right to not accept donations.
