The Huron Public Library provides ongoing tech assistance and programming designed to give patrons the confidence they need to navigate new technologies. Technology Assistance 

Book a Librarian

The Library's Book a Librarian service allows patrons to spend 30 minute sessions with a librarian or IT staff member who can give assistance that is directly tailored to your technology needs. Popular session topics include assistance with: Library apps like Libby or OverDrive, smartphone use, navigating a specific website, and eReader use.

Technology Special Collection Materials 

The Library maintains a small collection of technology materials that are available for loan. 

Wi-Fi Hotspots 

The Library is now loaning Wi-Fi Hotspots that can connect multiple devices to the Internet anywhere you can get cell phone service. These devices are perfect for the beach, the park, travel, or any location without access to Wi-Fi.

  • Loan period is 7 days
  • Non-renewable
  • No holds
  • Late fee is $5 per day
  • Replacement/Lost fee is $80
  • must be 18+ to check out
  • Must be checked out and returned to main Circulation Desk

To check out a Wi-Fi Hotspot, patrons must have a valid ID and their library card at the time of check out. A User Agreement Form must also be read and signed by patrons checking out a Hotspot for the first time.

Playaway Launchpads 

Playaway Launchpads are portable devices pre-loaded with educational games and videos created just for children. Each Launchpad is labeled with recommended ages and various subjects and can be found in the Youth Services Department next to the Circulation Desk.

  • Loan period is 7 days
  • Late fee is $1 per day
  • Replacement/Lost fee is $139.99
  • Must be checked out and returned to main Circulation Desk

Nebula Projectors 

The Library also circulates a few portable projectors. These Nebula Projectors can be used to project streaming services like Netflix and Youtube videos or for presentations. NOTE: Patrons are responsible for logging out of accounts upon return of devices. The Library does not provide free access to used streaming services.

  • Loan period is 3 days
  • Non-renewable
  • No holds
  • Late fee is $5 per day
  • Replacement/Lost fee is $300
  • must be 18+ to check out
  • Must be checked out and returned to main Circulation Desk

To check out a Nebula Projector, patrons must have a valid ID and their library card at the time of check out. A User Agreement Form must also be read and signed by patrons checking out a projector for the first time.

Nebula Projectors are not available for checkout at this time.

Charging Cords and Headphones 

Forget your charging cord or headphones for a device? We can help! The Library is now loaning multi-device charging cords for items like phones or tablets. Headphones can also be checked out for in-house use on computers or other devices.

  • In-house use only
  • Late fee is $5 per day
  • Replacement/Lost fee is $25
  • Must be checked out and returned to main Circulation Desk

Charging cords and headphones are not available to checkout at this time.
